Description

DIN 1.2083 ESR Steel Plastic mould Steel is Stavax esr steel equivalent.

DIN 1.2083 is a type of stainless steel known for its excellent corrosion resistance and good wear resistance.

It’s classified as a martensitic stainless steel, which means it can be hardened through heat treatment.

The steel typically contains chemicals around chromium 12-14% and about carbon 0.9-1.2% , along with small amounts of other elements like nickel and molybdenum.

This steel is often used in applications requiring both toughness and resistance to corrosion, such as in molds for plastic processing, tooling, and various industrial applications.

Its ability to maintain hardness even at elevated temperatures makes it suitable for demanding environments.

DIN 1.2083 ESR steel (Electro Slag Remelted) grade is a highly refined version of the standard DIN 1.2083 martensitic stainless steel.

The ESR process improves the material’s purity and microstructure by refining inclusions and reducing impurities.

This results in enhanced mechanical properties, better wear resistance, and improved corrosion resistance.

Key characteristics of DIN 1.2083 ESR steel include:-

  • Corrosion Resistance: DIN 1.2083 ESR steel Good resistance to various corrosive environments.
  • Wear Resistance: DIN 1.2083 ESR steel Suitable for applications requiring high wear resistance, like mold making.
  • Toughness: DIN 1.2083 ESR steel Maintains toughness even after heat treatment.

Common applications include high-performance tooling, molds for plastic injection, and components in the automotive and aerospace industries where enhanced properties are critical.

Cold-work steel; must be tempered several times after hardening (max. 52HRC).

The demand for max. hardness often ends up in material breakage.

mould temperature max. 200°C; corrosion-resistant after hardening.

The ESR quality guarantees an extremely pure and homogeneous microstructure.
