- Heat Treatment:

- Soft Annealing: 710–740°C for 2–5 hours, followed by slow cooling (10–20°C/hour) to ~600°C, then air cooling. Maximum Brinell hardness: 235.
- Hardening: Heat to 840–870°C, quench in oil, hot bath, or air (180–220°C). Post-quench hardness: ~52 HRC.
- Tempering: Heat slowly post-hardening; maintain tempering temperature for 1 hour per 20 mm thickness, with double tempering recommended.
Applications of DIN 1.2738 Steel Plate
DIN 1.2738 mold steel is ideal for low-temperature applications, including die-casting dies, injection molds, synthetic plastic mold dies, and highly stressed large plastic molds (up to 400 mm).
It is also well-suited for hydroforming tools and supports nitriding and chrome plating for enhanced performance.
