Heat Treatment Process

  1. Annealing:
    • Heat to 850-900°C, then slow cooling in the furnace.
    • Ensures machinability and stress relief.
  2. Hardening:
    • Preheat at 450-500°C and 850-900°C.
    • Austenitizing at 1180-1230°C, followed by quenching in oil or salt bath.
  3. Tempering:
    • Heat to 540-560°C, hold for 1 hour per 25mm of thickness.
    • Perform 2-3 tempering cycles for optimal toughness and hardness.
